Welcome to MMPT
Experience Personalized Healing at Mountain Man
Mountain Man Physical Therapy (MMPT) was originally created to fill a hole in the EL Paso/Las Cruces areas. After visiting and performing several clinical rotations in EL Paso and throughout the country, Dr. Schiller became aware of the lack in quality of care that is often experienced in the outpatient physical therapy setting. Patients commonly work with assistants and techs (techs are not required to have any formal training) while the main physical therapist supervises 4-5 patients an hour. This leads to patients 1. Receiving a cookie cutter exercise program that rarely addresses the patient's unique impairments 2. Little to no manual therapy and 3. A lack of professional guidance on how to progress forward while preventing future occurrences. In order to have a successful recovery, most patients require all three of these variables.
• An exercise program will be developed during the first couple sessions to address the unique impairments that caused the injuries to happen in the first place (E.g. body mechanics, posture, weakness, flexibility, breathing deficits). Your program will focus on functional movement restoration that serves a purpose in your day-to-day function.
• Manual therapy is where your therapist will manipulate nerves, joints, soft tissue and other structures. When attending the majority of clinics in the area, patients rarely receive more than a couple minutes of manual therapy throughout their entire rehab. At MMPT, we understand that without manual therapy the average patient is unlikely to unlock their potential, and lack of progress will frequently be blamed on age, or changes seen in imaging. Because you are always one-on-one therapy with a licensed physical therapist, all patients receive the proper amount of time needed to address the patient's unique impairments. On average about 50 percent of the time is spent performing manual therapy, some patient require more and some require less.
• Finally, throughout your rehab at MMPT you will receive professional guidance on a daily basis with a licensed PT. You will learn about your unique injury, how and why it happened and life style changes to make that will help minimize future recurrences. In addition, you will learn how to rehab basic injuries on your own using simple tools to manipulate nerves, joints and soft tissue. Our goal is to create patients who are educated, independent, and are capable of taking control of future injuries. As much as we love our patients, our goal is not to see them again.
Exceptional care and attention to detail.
